Forged in the creative furnace of the Hunt Lascaris TBWA creative department, recognised as one of the top global creative agencies at the time, my love of ideas and film-making was ignited.
From there I was lured to the most beautiful city in the world, Cape Town, to develop brands, start an agency, build another and create multiple fragrance and cosmetic brands. Until New York called. An immersion into my passion - film making at New York University summer school crystallised what I knew and and proved that that age, culture and continent are transcended by story telling.
An opportunity at one of South Africa’s most creatively awarded independent agencies - King James saw my return to Johannesburg with several creatively fulfilling years. The chance to flex my skills as ECD and widen my core offering with experiential and immersive brand building saw me manage a large team at Brand Activation, Ogilvy where media agnostic ideas drove the creative department.
A stint in Dubai working on some of the UAE’s top local hospitality and tourism brands expanded my knowledge of culture in the Middle East.
A return to SA working at FCB Africa on several of South Africa’s most loved brands further sharpened and grew my storytelling skills and its importance in building brands.
A foundation of conceptual traditional advertising, a love of the craft and technology of storytelling, and my continued passion for film-making defined my holistic approach to brand building culminating in several years capturing stories in the wildest parts of Southern Africa for the creation of an African skincare brand.
It was that storytelling and brand creation that caught the eyes of ISDIN, Barcelona, Spain, presenting an opportunity to start a new division, grow a team of Spanish and English content writers and build the foundation of written content for this skincare brand expanding globally. All while discovering the secrets of the Mediterranean lifestyle.
3 years on, a new role was created as Brand Guardian where I currently steward the brand across digital channels globally.
The adventure continues.
My love for filmmaking currently finds me making a documentary covering a 90 year life across the UK and Africa, that of my mother.
Beth’s Story. La historia de mi madre, la historia más importante del mundo.
